Great Building (Pendopo Agung)

(http://images.detik.com/)                                          It is a big, large and classic building. People call “Pendopo Agung or Panggung”. It is located at Nglinguk Village, Trowulan district. It is not so far from my house, at Sentonorejo. Great Building was built at the place that believed as the palace of Majaphit kingdom sites. The great building is a beautiful place to visit. It has large area, big trees, many kinds of flowers, food center, playing ground and nice weather. Visitors can play football, camping, take pictures, watching “wayang” show, etc. there. The Great Building is also believed as a sacred place. Behind this building we can find grave yard of Majapahit troops. Many people also come there to pray for the dead.

Majapahit Museum

Majapahit Museum is the only museum in my town. It is at segaran village, Trowulan district. It keeps many historical heritages of Majapahit Kingdom such as statues, heirlooms, old bricks, etc. Majapahit Museum is modern, beautiful and large building. At the museum the air is fresh and cool. We can take picture, take a walk, etc. there. Everyday, there are many visitors visiting. They do research about Majapahit Kingdom or just for recreation. The Museum is very good and beautiful tourists’ destination. There is representative parking area and we can get much information about Majapahit Kingdom.

The Legend of Kelud Montain ( folklore from East Java )

Brawijaya was the king of Majapahit Kingdom. He had a daughter, her name was Dyah Ayu Pusparani. She was very beautiful. Many young men fell in love with her. However, she always refused their marriage proposals. King Brawijaya was sad. He really wanted to see his daughter to get married. “You have to get married soon, my daughter,” said King Brawijaya. He continued, “I’m getting older, I know you are looking for a great husband. I have an idea, I’m going to hold a competition. If a man can stretch Kyai Garudayaksa’s bow and lift Kyai Sekardelima’s gong, he will be your husband." Princess Dyah Ayu Pusparani was speechless. She knew her father really wanted her to get married. She just hoped that she would marry a great man. She knew the bow and the gong had supernatural power. So the winner must had supernatural power too. One by one men tried to stretch the bow and lifted the gong. No one succeeded. They were injured, their hands and backs were broken. King Brawijaya planned to stop the competition. He thought no one could win the competition. However, before he stopped it, a man came to him. “Don’t stop the competition now. I haven’t tried it yet.” Everybody was looking at him. He was very strange. His head was unlike human’s head. He had a bull’s head. “What’s your name?” asked the king. “My name is Lembusura.” answer that's man. Then he tried to stretch the bow, he succeeded. The next test, he had to lift the gong. Again, he succeeded. Everybody applauded. They all were amazed by his power. However, Princess Dyah Ayu Pusparani was sad. She never thought that she would marry a man who had a bull’s head. King Brawijaya was also sad. But he had no choice. He had to keep his promise. Later, he asked his men to prepare a wedding ceremony. The ceremony was getting closer and Princess Dyah Ayu Pusparini was really sad. She really wanted to cancel the wedding. She was thinking very hard. Finally she had an idea. She told his father. “Father, ask Lembusura to make a well on the top of Kelud Mountain. The well is for me to take a bath,” said Princess Dyah Ayu Pusparini. King Brawijaya understood the plan. He asked Lembusura to go to the top of Kelud Mountain. Lembusura agreed. When he arrived, Lembusura dug the ground. He was digging until the hole was deep. Suddenly, some soldiers pushed him into the hole. They buried him alive. Lembusura was helpless. He could not do anything. Before he died, he cursed the King. “King Brawijaya, wait for my revenge. I will destroy your kingdom!” cursed Lembusura. Everybody was so scared. They really believed that Lembusura would revenge to the kingdom. Until now, every time Kelud Mountain erupts, people say that Lembusura is doing his revenge!

Friday in last week holiday, my father and I went to hotel to have reservation. A receptionist welcomed us friendly. “Can I help you ?” She asked. I said that I wanted a double room with a bath for one night. Her assistant gave me the key to room number 42. I took the key and upstairs. A porter helped carry my cases.
When we found our room. We unlocked the door and opened it. We were shocked when we show two fat women smoking in the room. We shouted and banged the door. We thought there were ghosts in our room.
We run away and got back to receptionist room. One of the fat women ran after me. She was so angry that we were angry.
Then we explained to the receptionist what happened to us. She was very sorry. She had a mistake. Actually our room was next door, number 41.
We returned to our room and had a rest there. The fat women realized it. We were glad because the look of anger had disappeared from her face. And then we checked out in the following morning.

THE SHIRT OF A HAPPY MAN
There was once a king who was very powerful and rich. But he was unhappy, because he felt ill all the time. No doctors knew how to cure him, nor did any medicine do him good.
One day, he called all his wise men to his palace and asked them what to do. “There is only one way”, said a very old man. “If you can find a happy man, take his shirt and wear it, you’ll be soon cured“
So the King sent his men to search far all the happy men. They traveled all over the country, but they could not find one. There was no body who was completely satisfied.
The men were very tired of their long search, and did not know when to go home. Just as they were worrying about that, they saw a workman who was singing merrily while he was at work.
“Are you happy?” they asked the man. “Yes, I am happy as a lark”, answered the man.
‘“Give us your shirt’ said the men, “Well give you as much money as you need”. J
“Alas!” cried the man, “My shirt is dirty.”
